About Pioneer Park and Splash Pad

Pioneer Park is a wonderful spot nestled in the heart of Provo. It’s in a lively area that often has small markets or festivals at it,  but still is great for families.  The park has been a community favorite for years, and the addition of the splash pad has only increased its popularity. One of the best things about this park is the giant trees that provide plenty of shade, making it a perfect place to visit on a hot day.

There’s plenty of parking around the park, so it’s easy to get the kids in and out, while avoiding busy 500 W and Center Streets. What Makes Pioneer Park Great?

Pioneer Park is really a simple park, and that’s one of the best things about it.  The playground is simple, the grass and gardens are in great shape, and the splash pad is really great and can accommodate lots of kids.  Unlike a lot of the best parks in Utah County, Pioneer Park is one of the more established parks, which means that you’ll find plenty of shade and beautiful, mature gardens all over the park.  It’s a great blend of everything so adults will enjoy it just as much as the kids do.

Playgrounds at Pioneer Park

The playground at Pioneer Park isn’t as tall and fancy as you’ll find at newer parks, but there are still plenty of places to play.  The entire playground is fenced in for safety which is so nice when you have major roads nearby.  The playground has a log cabin theme to it, stemming from the parks focus of pioneers.  At the playground you’ll find climbing hets, monkey bars, slides, bridges and swings.  The biggest downside to the playground is that all of the trees are outsides of the playground area so it doesn’t get great shade during the day and the playground can get hot in the afternoon.

Provo Splash Pad at Pioneer Park

The splash pad in Provo at Pioneer Park is packed full of fountains.  The fountains have fluctuating water so they’re constantly getting bigger and smaller which is a fun surprise for the kids.  There isn’t anything too fancy about this splash pad, but it’s just so fun for kids to run around!  Best of all, because it’s a smaller splash pad, it doesn’t attract the huge crowds that nearby Vineyard Grove splash pad has. Also, keep in mind that the splash pad shuts off for about 10 minutes every hour to allow kids to go to the bathroom.
